Study refurbishment

A retired historian came to us looking to revamp his study. As he had a huge amount of books, he wanted enough shelving space to create his very own library!

In this room, we removed the fireplace and re-plastered the entire room including the ceiling. There was an existing c.18th century cornice detail that the customers understandably wanted to keep. To ensure that the detail wasn't lost, we decided to over-skim the existing lime plaster rather than overboard it.

We created the bespoke shelving units and there was already an existing parquet floor which was looking a bit tired and needed restoring. We sanded that back to its original wood and finished it with varnish and a clear lacquer to protect it. The customers were over the moon with how it turned out!
